Kill Your “Self”

Suicide is a risky topic..
.
Especially for a blog post.

But you're not here for boring posts, are you? I didn't think so.

So today, we're talking about commiting suicide.
More accurately, suicide of your self image.

Because if you're not happy with the place you're at in your life...if you have bad habits or characteristics, here's the good news.

You can change all of them. Today.

You are not *you*. (this gets weird)

See, we all have a self image.
It's built up of all of our beliefs.

SOME of our beliefs are from our own experiences, but most of them are secondhand beliefs we get from authorities.

Like your parents, teachers, the government, TV, etc.

I'm smart.
I'm funny.
I don't like seafood.
I'm not good at math.
I'm an introvert.
I'm broke.
I'm nice.

I'm this, I'm that.

Remember: You are not ANY of those things.
Those are simply programs you've been running. Outdated software.

And you can instantly change any of them, at will.

Except it's painful doing so... Your self image is like a completely different organism and when you try to change, it thinks it's dying and it will defend itself.

That's why you see lottery winners go broke in a few weeks or months or years later. Their self image is that of a broke person, not a millionaire.

That's why people experience so much fear when starting a business...or doing public speaking (I'm shy!)... or whenever they push their comfort zone...

Often we believe all of those things about ourselves until we get significant evidence which proves otherwise.

So maybe you've been thinking about learning copywriting and marketing and sales, but some part of you is resisting.

You have that inner critic telling you "Hey, you can't do this!"

"Who are you to start your own business?"
"Who are YOU to become a freelancer?"

And it gets worse - other people will attack you once they see you start changing.
It offends THEIR self image.

So what do you do?

First you have to decide what you want...Then you have to ask yourself, "Who do I have to be to achieve that?"

Who do you have to become where that person has everything you want as a standard in their life?

You want to make $100,000 a month?
You want 6 pack abs?
You want to have a hot girlfriend?
You want to be a star salesman?

Who do you have to be to make all those things the baseline in your life?

Next, the simplest thing you can do is change your environment and who you associate with...

If you want to become a freelance copywriter, hang out with freelance copywriters.

If you want to learn how to speak Spanish, go travel through South America.

Once you do that, the fastest way to get acquire the skills you want is to follow a proven path.

And if you're not clear on that path, we should chat.

I've set aside some time to help you with anything.

It might be copywriting, sales, marketing, business strategy, business models, or mindset.
